Created by James Rackham, founder of artisanal spirits company Emporia Brands and Mayfield Distilling Co. liveryman of The Worshipful Group of Distillers and resident of MAYFIELD, E.Sussex. The dramatic label depicts THE STORY of ST.DUNSTAN & THE DEVIL, an epic event, which as the story goes, happened in the 10th century in Mayfield Village.
Made with SUSSEX HOP, which was discovered as a WILD HOP growing in local Sussex hedgerows. It is now cultivated in just one acre of a thirty acre hop farm in Salehurst by 7th generation, AWARD-WINNING hop farmer Andrew Hoad. Sussex Hop is now an approved hop variety and is known for its amazing CITRUS & HOP character.
Mayfield Sussex Hop Gin is a recipe of 8 NATURAL BOTANICALS. Juniper berries, of course, followed by the signature botanical, SUSSEX HOP, and ORANGE peel, LEMON peel, CORIANDER seed, ANGELICA root, ORRIS root and LIQUORICE. Each botanical is micro-distilled in a 150-year-old copper pot still and then brought together to create this unique personality.
NOSE: Zesty lime and orange citrus, pine fresh juniper, cracked black pepper, parma-violets and liquorice.
PALATE: Dry, piney juniper with pronounced black pepper and cinnamon spice, sea salt, zesty citrus and faint floral notes.
